The Golden Triangle
The sagebrush steppe was once North America's largest ecosystem. Today, less than half remains. In western Wyoming lies the crown jewel. Known as “the Golden Triangle” for it’s multiple overlapping values, this 367,362-acre area is considered the best remaining sagebrush steppe habitat. Due to the quality and quantity of unbroken sagebrush steppe, it contains the world’s densest population of Greater Sage-Grouse. Elk, Mule Deer, and Pronghorn also rely on it and migrate through it en masse.
Despite this area’s exceptional values, it is almost unheard of. To raise awareness for its existence and appreciation for its ecological values, I created this StoryMap for the National Audubon Society.
